Eire

As far as I know there are no Oxmans in Eire. However there is an area known as Oxmantown just north of the Liffey in Dublin. After the Anglo-Norman invasion in 1170, the Hiberno-Viking trading community declined and many were banished to Oxmantown. If anyone knows more about the origin of this name let me know.

One possibility is that the Vikings sailed to Ireland from the north east and were referred to as 'eastman'. (Ost=East; man; town). Over the years Ostman was corrupted to Oxman

There is also a Lord Oxmantown.
